AMERICA DECIDES: The Democratic National Convention is Underway AfterAvoiding 1968 Chaos in Chicago
The Democratic National Convention is starting on Monday, with President Biden delivering a speech that day instead of Thursday, when he was still the nominee. Attendees in Chicago will also be able to get free abortions and vasectomies.
NOTE: The last time a Democratic president dropped out of the race was in 1968, when President Lyndon Johnson announced that he would not seek re-election on March 31, 1968.
NOTE: What followed was pure chaos. Just four days after he dropped out, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. And just months after that, Robert F. Kennedy, the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated—shot on June 5, 1968, shortly after delivering a speech at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California, and died the following day, June 6, 1968. He was expected to win the nomination when he was killed.
NOTE: It was in that environment that the Democrats went into their open convention, and it was pure chaos with police battling anti-Vietnam War protesters outside the convention, and America watching protesters being brutalized and shot alongside a convention that descended into total chaos. An animal was even nominated to be President. In the end, the Democrats lost the election in November 1968.
NOTE: This year, the Democrats avoided all that after Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris, and no one challenged her, fearing it would lead to the same outcome.
NOTE: Just like in 1968, there are going to be pro-Palestinian protesters calling for the end of the Gaza war, where tens of thousands have been bombed to death.
NOTE: The protesters have been given clear areas for protests, and police have been instructed to remain professional as usual and avoid the same chaotic scenes witnessed in 1968.
